Your data rights

When you use Bankrate to compare rates, your personal information stays with us. It only reaches a lender, bank, or partner when you choose to request a quote or submit an application. We don’t sell your data for money or pass it along without a clear action on your part.

We offer these formal rights to everyone in the US. You can see your data, correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it — and you can opt out of the use of your data for targeted advertising entirely.

What you can request

• Access — get a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate personal information
• Deletion — ask us to delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions
• Opt-out of sale or sharing — stop your data from being used for targeted advertising or sold to third parties

Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or device sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out of the sale and sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising — no separate form submission required.

Authorized agents

You can authorize someone to submit a request on your behalf. Before we act on the request, we may need to verify your identity and confirm that you authorized the agent.

Response timeframe and appeals

We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. If we need more time, we’ll let you know. If we deny your request, we will explain why and, where applicable law provides it, outline your right to appeal. You can submit an appeal using our appeal form.
